Introduction:
In 3manager, you can choose to mark a device as managed or not managed. By using this functionality, it will be easier to get an overview of "your own devices" as a separate view.
Features in 3manager will in the future begin using the managed vs not managed devices for a better management.
For example, you would like to receive alerts for managed devices only, or perform TCO simulations for not managed devices as this is new business opportunities.
Another example could be creating a report for supplies replacements registered on managed devices only for invoicing purposes.
In short, managed means that it's "your business" and not managed means "devices outside your business".
See these as a potential business which you can manage in the future.
Definition:
- Managed device:
A device that is managed by you which you have sold and/or deliver supplies to.
- Not-managed device:
A device that is discovered by your data collector but not managed by you directly. Example, these devices could belong to a competitor or it was existing devices which you haven't sold or are delivering supplies to.
How to mark a device as managed:
- Click "Action" and choose manage.
Please note: Devices are set to unmanaged as default.
- Managed devices will be listed in left under "State" in the equipment panel and when looking at the device detailed page.

Multi-select devices (bulk)
On the equipment dashboard (dashboard - equipment) you can filter devices of interest and from that view mark al / select devices you want to mark as managed or unmanaged. Read more under the "Equipment dashboard"
