Summary
In 3manager, device status is automatically updated based on how long it has been since the device last sent data.
-
Offline means the device has not reported for a shorter period but is still considered part of the fleet.
- Retired means the device has been offline for longer and is considered no longer present at the customer site.
Both statuses are managed by the Device Lifecycle Management feature, and thresholds can be customised in your account settings.
It is not possible to manually change the status of the device. This is 100% related to the date of the last received report from the data collector agent or other integration used.
If the device is offline/retired it could be related to the data collector is not reporting or change of network configuration or security.

How it works
The Device Lifecycle Management feature checks the last update time for each device. When a device has not reported for a set number of days, it automatically changes to Offline. If it continues not to report beyond the Retired threshold, it changes to Retired. These rules can be customised at your level and will apply to sub‑accounts unless overridden locally.
Default Settings:
| Status | Condition | Indicator |
| Active | Device reports daily | Green dot |
| Offline | No update for 14 days | Yellow dot |
| Retired | No update for 45 days | Red dot |
Things to note:
-
Offline devices are still included in reports and dashboards.
-
Retired devices are excluded from daily views and most reports, but their historical data is preserved.
-
It is not possible to manually change status from Offline to Active or Retired to active. This is 100% managed by the last report date from the data collector.
- Thresholds can be adjusted under Settings → Device Lifecycle Management.
- If a Retired device starts reporting again, it will automatically change status to Active
